A magical journey that leads to self-discovery and that ever-elusive pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. During this visualisation, our children will learn about their chakras and how to balance them using the colours of the rainbow and positive affirmations.
First, we start with a short muscle relaxation exercise but if your child needs a little more time to relax into the meditation then please see the full Progressive Muscle Relaxation script here.
Ok ready? Here we go.
Make sure there are no distractions. All phones, Tv’s and other devices (besides this one) are switched off. Grab yourself a blanket, turn the lights down low and make yourself comfortable lying down. Take a deep breath in and then, breathe out. Repeat this several times if needed to centre and calm yourself.
On your next breath in I want you to squeeze your feet and leg muscles as tight as you can and as you breathe out, release the muscles in your feet and release the tension.
Next, we are going to work on the hips and buttocks. Breathe in and squeeze those butt cheeks as tight as you can and as you breathe out, release the muscles, release the tension.
Breathe in, and breathe out.
Next is the stomach. Breathe in and squeeze those tummy muscles really, really tight and as you breathe out, release the muscles, release the tension.
Now for the hands. I want you to make little fists of fury so as you breathe in, squeeze those hands into tight little fists and as you breathe out, release the muscles, release all the tension.
Take a nice deep breath in, and breathe out.
We will move into the shoulder area now so as you breathe in, squeeze those shoulders up to your ears and as you breathe out, drop those shoulder muscles into the bed or floor below you and release the muscles, release the tension.
Face. On your next breath in squeeze, those face muscles and make the ugliest face possible, squeeze, squeeze, squeeze and as you breathe out, relax your face muscles and release the tension.
Breathe in, and breathe out.
If you still feel any tension in any part of your body then I want you to breathe in and squeeze that body part now and as you breathe out, release the muscles, release the tension.
Now we start our magical journey through all the colours of the rainbow. I want you to imagine yourself standing barefoot on the grass. The grass is slightly damp and cold under your feet. It has just finished raining and the sun is shining brightly………….
Directly in front of you there is a beautiful sparkling rainbow. This rainbow looks so magical and it shines so brightly. You can almost reach out and touch it. You can see the seven colours of the rainbow so clearly, red on the top, then orange, yellow, green, sky blue, indigo and finally purple on the bottom. You can’t quite see the end of the rainbow though …… I wonder what is on the other side?
You walk over to the edge of the rainbow and you are covered in a red glowing light. This red glow makes you feel safe and strong. You think of your family and how much you are loved. You stand there for a moment absorbing this powerful red light energy whilst you say to yourself “I am safe, I am loved” and then you take a couple of steps forward…….
Here you are covered in bright orange light. You are shining orange! You feel happy. You think of your friends and how every single one of them can make you feel happy. You stand there for a moment watching your body shine and glow a beautiful orange colour whilst you tell yourself “I am happy” and then you take another couple of small steps forward.
Now you are surrounded by the colour yellow. Every part of you is surrounded by yellow. You feel safe, loved and willing to try new things. You stand in this yellow light and you say to yourself “I can do it” knowing that you have the confidence to do whatever you put your mind to.
Taking a big step forward you are now surrounded by the colour green. This green looks exactly like the green grass under your feet. See this green light wash over you filling you with light and love. This green light reminds you that you are loved and also of the people and pets that you love. Picture them in your head now as you tell yourself “I am loved”.
Taking another step forward you are now surrounded by a sky blue colour. This colour reminds you that you are kind and that you are heard, that other people want to listen to you. As your whole body lights up like the bright blue sky you tell yourself “I am kind and I speak kindly to others”. You then take another couple of steps forward.
Now you are surrounded by the colour indigo. This royal blue/purple colour makes you feel alive. You remember that your angels speak to you in your dreams and that your dreams help you to make sense of your world. You are reminded that you are in control of your dreams. You let this indigo colour wash over you whilst you say to yourself “I only have good dreams”.
You take your last step forward where you are now covered in the colour purple. This colour washes over you and you feel amazing! This purple colour makes you feel smart and in control. You know the right thing to do and you know how to do it. As you allow this purple light to fill every part of your body you close your eyes and you tell yourself “I am wise, I have great ideas” and then something magical happens. You find yourself being carried upwards, upwards and over the grass beneath you travelling through all the colours of the rainbow right over to the other side.
As you open your eyes you realise you have come to the end of the rainbow. You feel alive. You feel loved and brave and you are ready to take on the world. But what is that you see in front of you? There is something shining and glistening ahead. What is that? It looks like, gold! Wait it is, it is a pot of gold! You found it. You made your way through the rainbow and now you are being rewarded. Well done. Grab your treasure and we will slowly head back…………………………..
You make your way back to where you started, walking barefoot over the wet grass. The sun is shining on your face. The birds are singing softly in the distance. You feel safe and calm and totally relaxed.
Take a nice big deep breath in, and breathe out.
You are now ready to start your day or to drift off to sleep…………
